Nominations for The Scotland Merit open

Whilst the Colours Committee is set to meet to to confer inaugural Colours

When I was elected Scotland Captain for Budapest last year I did so on the platform of developing pathways for coaches to get involved in the idea of Team Scotland and The Tartan Army.

I was very keen to help any Scottish coach to have the confidence to travel overseas knowing they were part of a bigger whole in The Tartan Army, and on that count mission accomplished. The Scottish Blood Bowl community sent a record breaking thirty coaches to Budapest and had a cracking weekend both on and off the pitch. I'm hoping the introduction of Colours will encourage Scottish coaches to attend future Eurobowls and World Cups.

Nominations for The Scotland Merit are Open

The Scotland Merit was created as a way of acknowledging and recognising Scottish Coaches who give exceptional service to Team Scotland and the wider Blood Bowl community.

Section 8.3 The Scotland Merit notes,

“A coach may be awarded the Scotland Merit for exceptional performance or service to Team Scotland and the community.”

A coach may well have been a loyal servant of the team for years, volunteered as Captain or had exceptional performances across the board and many other quietly unseen activities to support the community will be open for discussion.

Nominations for the Scotland Merit are open from now until Monday 8 December at 5pm. If you’d like to nominate a Scottish Coach to be considered for the Scotland Merit hit the button below.

Introducing Scottish Colours

Part of the rework of the Team Scotland Constitution was the creation of Colours; Full and Half. Full Colours were to be awarded to the four coaches selected to play on the official Team Scotland in Europen. Congratulations to the first recipients of Full Colours who together managed a fantastic 4 - 1- 1 placing 13th out of 140 teams:

Having received their Full Colours they will be eligible to stand as a potential future Scotland Captain, and they will also receive an invite to take up their role on the Team Scotland Council that oversees the Constitution and holds the current Captain to account.

Half Colours were to be conferred on any Scottish coach who played or volunteered at a Eurobowl or World Cup who wasn’t on the official Team Scotland Squad of twelve.

So for the coaches on Scotland Futures and The Tartan Army they will be officially awarded their Half Colours when the Colours Committee next meets to ratify the awards. Congratulations go to:
