Team Scotland

There are currently 4 ways that a coach can become a member of Team Scotland

i) Win the Scottish Championship*

ii) Qualify through the extended leader board

iii) Be selected by the current Team Scotland Captain

iv) Be elected as Team Scotland Captain

Qualification through the Scottish Championship

The Scottish Championship is an event that runs over a calendar year where all tournaments held within Scotland are eligible to be part of. Coaches can earn points from each event and the cumulative points determine who will be the champion. This series is organized and run by the Scottish Blood Bowl Committee.

*The winner of the Scottish Championship will automatically qualify for the Team Scotland squad for the following years EuroBowl. In the event that the next year is a world cup year, the qualification is carried over on the condition that they score at least one Scottish Championship point in the following years series. If any coach who qualifies through the Scottish Championship route does not wish to take their earned spot(s) within the Team Scotland Squad, then the spot(s) defaults to a Captains pick.

Qualification through the extended leader board

The Extended leaderboard is the main route for a coach to qualify for the Team Scotland squad. To be eligible to participate in the Scottish Leaderboard, a coach must either reside in Scotland or have their nationality set to Scottish on the NAF site. 

Players can earn points from participating in any tournament as long as it meets the following minimum criteria.

i)    The event is NAF sanctioned

ii)    Has at least 20 participants

The Extended Leaderboard is scored as follows;

Two Day Events   

     
1st Place –    6 Points              
2nd Place –  5 Points             
3rd Place –   4 Points           
4th Place –   3 Points              
5th Place –   2 Point                
6th Place –   1 Point

One Day Events

​

1st Place –    5 Points

2nd Place –  4 Points

3rd Place –   3 Points

4th Place –   2 Points

5th Place –   1 Point

Bonus Points are also awarded to coaches for each different race scored with (+1 per each additional race).

Tie Breakers (in order of importance) for the Scottish Leaderboard are as follows

 

1. Total number of tournament wins

2. Total number of additional races placed with

3. Total number of overall placings

Additional Information;

The top three coaches will automatically qualify for the Team Scotland squad. If any qualifying player does not wish to play for the Team Scotland squad, then their spot defaults to a captain’s pick.
