Davo favourite to lift The Triple Crown at NAF Champs

Updated: 6 days ago

NAF Champs to play a pivotal role in determining the winner of the first NAF Super Series

This has seen the pilot year of the NAF Super Series where premier Blood Bowl events are linked together to encourage friendship, travel and some healthy competition along the way. The very first NAF Super Series is The Triple Crown, made up of the three UK Nationals;

  • The Welsh National Championship,

  • Mulligan’s Open: Scotland’s NAF National and

  • the world famous NAF Championships.

Points are awarded to the top 20% of the field at each event with bonus points conferred and weighted by the overall size of the field. Details of the scoring can be seen on the live doc that explains the Super Series and keeps track of the scores!

The Triple Crown Trophy to be presented at NAF Championships

AndyDavo takes the early lead in the Super Series with victory in Cardiff

With one hundred and twenty-four coaches duking it out in Cardiff at the Welsh National ably organised by TheShepherd, the experienced Tournament Organiser a fun weekend was guaranteed.

AndyDavo proved victorious at the Welsh National Championship making sure the title was kept in Welsh hands whilst breaking Mankiz’s heart in the process by denying the travelling Lithuanian the threepeat of Welsh victories. Standings from the tournament can be seen on Tourplay

The Super Series off to a cracking start with the scoreboard as follows:

Thulean makes a raid north of Hadrian’s Wall to take the Scotland National back down south

Mulligan’s Open held in bonny Edinburgh was in its second iteration as a NAF National and continued to show great growth with ninety-seven coaches and international calibre coaches from England, Germany and Sweden visiting. With AndyDavo not in the field there was a perfect opportunity for others who’d been at the Welsh to catch up, including yours truly - which meant only one thing… a stinker of a tournament for me as I finished 48th. However, Thulean, Team England Coach, came with his pretty-in-pink woodies (beautifully painted!) and conquered all, winning the tournament with a 5-1-0 record piping fellow Team England coach, Breakmonker, on strength of schedule - see standings from Mulligan’s

Mulligan’s presented twenty coaches with some well-earned points:

Can Davo be caught by the chasing pack at NAF Champs or will he claim the first Triple Crown?!

On the eve of the NAF Champs the question for the Super Series is will the in form AndyDavo claim the first ever Super Series or will the chasing pack catch him? He’s got the advantage that Thulean is not in the field this weekend as Liam has taken to the skies flying into Florence with his Tactics and Theatrics teammates to play in this year’s Tilean Team Cup - a tournament that’s part of the European Team Championship Super Series!

So who are the runners and riders? Well the cumulative table prior to the NAF Champs is below and there are eleven coaches who’ve already scored points who are at the NAF Champs this weekend. Leading the chasing pack is Danny, playing Dark Elves this weekend who is in fifth place in the series and is only two points behind Davo. With a maximum 29 points on offer for the top three finishers at NAFC there are plenty of points available for Danny and the others to overtake Andy if he slips up.

Another notable coach, a bit further behind, but not out of it, is Sporran - Team Scotland Coach who won the NAF Championship in 2022. There’s decent representation from England, Scotland and Wales with Cornish, BB_Jock, scs.Sam and Spleggy further down the midfield ready to pounce on any slip ups!
