Team Scotland raises more than £685 for research into MND
In memory of Chris Noden’s late wife, Tracy
At the start of the year, Team Scotland got together and decided that we would raise funds in memory of Tracy, Chris Noden’s late wife. It was our small way of letting Chris know we were thinking of him as he played his part in this year’s Team Scotland set-up for Eurobowl in Warsaw.
That led to us selling Scotland Away shirts and Tartan Army t-shirts across the Blood Bowl community, alongside a specially commissioned miniature of Kelvin, the Kilted Unicorn, Team Scotland’s long-standing mascot.
For anyone who didn’t want to buy merchandise, we also set up a JustGiving page where people could make a donation directly. To date, that has brought in a cracking £183 in donations and counting.
£500 fundraising target absolutely smashed
At the start of the year we chose My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, set up in memory of Scotland rugby star Doddie Weir, who died of MND in 2022. The Foundation raises funds to support research into motor neurone disease.
With an initial target of £500, I’m proud to say that not only have Team Scotland and the wider Scottish Blood Bowl community supported the fundraiser, but we’ve received support from across the Blood Bowl community around the world.
Away shirts have made their way to Spain, Italy, Germany and Poland, with a few more being hand-delivered to Warsaw next month. The award for furthest-travelled shirt, however, goes to a coach in Australia who ordered one in support.

Together with the JustGiving donations, that means the fundraiser has raised an incredible £685.30 for charity. If anyone can’t stand non-round numbers, there’s still time to make a donation online and help push us up to £700!

The Winner of the Painted Kelvin is…
We said that every Kelvin mini or shirt purchased would enter the coach into a raffle to win a slightly bigger, star-player-sized Kelvin, painted by Amsfeld, Scotland’s Painter of the Year 2024.
