Dumfries Gamers Blood Bowl League

What year was your league established?

2023

Who runs your league now and who ran it before?

Simon Whitehouse runs the league now (NAF Name CursedofNuffle) and this is my second session of running it. It was established by Alistair Johnstone (NAF Name is Badgie).

How many coaches play in your league?

We have had 18 in the last 2 sessions.

Where location/area is the league based in?

We are located in a Village hall in Dumfries in the area known as Lochabriggs.

What sort of format does your league use?

We run 2 leagues with promotion and relegation between the 2. New players always join the bottom league as it is more beginners friendly.

Are playoffs included? How does this work and who is selected for them?

No playoffs as never been a fan, even though I am a massive NFL fan.

What platform/league tools do you use?

We run the league on Tourplay as it reduces the admin burden on myself as the Commissioner.

Are there any league dues? How much is this and what does it cover?

So we run the league as part of a gaming club and their are 2 tiers to dues depending on how often you attend the club.

Describe your league in 2 to 3 sentences?

We are friendly and actively trying to show people who attended this is the best game to play and give everyone a positive experience playing in it .

We also expanded this as a club as a whole with it being open and inviting to help grow the community.

What type of community or culture does your league promote?

Friendly and relaxed so you can unwind after a hard week.

Tell us the history of your league?

So we have had 3 sessions so far with 2 different coaches winning those 3 and last season was the first season we ran the 2 leagues and had our first second league champion as well. So Scott won Session 1 with Lizards, Dan won season 2 with the legacy Chaos Dwarfs and he won division 1 last season with Humans. Winner of the Second Division was Jim with his Skaven.

Looking forward to seeing how the new edition shakes things up for our current session.

How has the league evolved over time?

We've grew in players and moved away from small divisions with playoffs to now having 2 divisions with promotion and relegation.

What memorable moments do you have from your league?

No standout moment, but the big thing that stands out to me is how the league has grown in player numbers and the also attracting youngest players as well.

Has your league hosted any special events or tournaments?

We have held Border Clash when Badgie ran the league and I have ran Salvation Bowl and Doonhamer Bowl 1.

Do you host social events/meet ups outside of league nights? (give examples where necessary)

Not Blood Bowl related but as a gaming club we are always hosting other game formats at all levels.

How do you encourage engagement between members, especially new members?

We advertise on FB and we have a very active discord. I would recommend contacting us through Dumfries Gamers FB and from there we can arrange a visit and an introduction game.

What is your expectation from member coaches?

One game a month so low level commitment as most members play other game systems as well.
