Team Scotland announced for Eurobowl XVII in Warsaw

Captain BB_Jock blends experience with three new caps as Scotland seek top ten finish

With Eurobowl XVII set to take place in Warsaw, Poland this coming October the Team Scotland Captain, BB_Jock announced today his chosen line-up for both Eurobowl and Europen.

The Team Scotland line-up will boast three new debut caps as the Captain sets out to lead the team with a declared ambition of a top ten finish. If this goal is achieved it would undoubtedly mark the country’s most successful Eurobowl in history.

When Jock was asked about how he reached the final line-up he had this to say,

“I was confident at the start of the season we had a strong squad of twelve coaches and as the season has progressed there has been some real stand-out performances. The recent Home Nations showed we have nothing to fear in going to Poland having recorded a notable win against Team England and achieving our highest finish at the Home Nations to date.
I’ve been really impressed by the way the guys have applied themselves. I’m delighted to give the nod to three debut coaches who have earned the right to pull on the Scotland shirt in Warsaw and earn their first caps.”

Whilst there are three new faces in the squad for Scotland there are some familiar faces including the very experienced coaches, Vice Captain, Sann and Scotland stalwart and most capped player, Purdindas.

Camelchops is set to receive his second cap in Warsaw after his debut last year in Budapest. Kevin is an academic and he’s been on hand to work through the ideas and the impact that game theory has on team Blood Bowl with Jock. He’ll be playing a different race in Warsaw, but he’ll still be playing a race he knows well and should be an important anchor to build results from.

Another name in the line-up getting his second cap, after taking a break last year, is Mournival who’s one of the great travellers of the Scottish community. This season he has played more games on tabletop than any other Scot. Ryan has chalked up appearances at the German Major, Dungeon Bowl and he recorded a notable third place at Luso Bowl in Lisbon, behind BB_Jock and tournament winner, Purplegoo, to name but a few tourneys.

Two of the debut caps gained their Full Colours in Budapest last year and after a second strong season in a row are now being asked to step-up to the Bowl to earn their caps. Congratulations to Blitzy and Talonbay. Blitzy has chalked up some noted wins including Thrud, at first time of asking, and Pumpkin Bowl last season. Whilst Talonbay has the knack of producing the goods against highly rated coaches, whilst giving very little away.

The third debut cap is coming straight into the Bowl having shown considerable skill in piloting desirable Eurobowl races. He came up against Jock at NAFC this year, and secured a draw in an enjoyable match. Congratulations to debut coach, Dazzamac.

BB_Jock rounds out the eight, gaining his third cap, and second time as Scotland Captain. Commenting on his ambitions for Poland he said,

“It’s an honour to be given the Captaincy for the second-year. Having achieved the long-held ambition of Eurobowl hosting rights in Budapest it’s important that Team Scotland doesn’t stand still. I think the new faces coming into the squad are testament to that, and chasing a top ten finish will be a goal that’s well within our reach in Warsaw - Nuffle willing!”

Shriyke to captain Team Scotland Open

Last year Team Scotland achieved a notable finish of 13th in the largest Europen to date and they’ll be looking to match that with a strong group of coaches in the Open. This year’s Scotland Open team will be captained by two-time Scotland cap, Shriyke.

Shriyke recorded a notable undefeated record in Budapest and has the experience to lead Team Scotland on to a hoped for strong finish in Warsaw. He’ll be backed up by three-time Scotland Cap, Sporran. Sporran is a great morale booster in any squad and I’m sure a good time will be had in Warsaw as a result, not to mention some top results over the board.

Fromherashes gained his Half Colours for Scotland last year captaining the Scotland Futures team in the Open and has now earned his right to gain Full Colours. He’s a granite coach, much like Aberdeen, the city he hails from.

Rounding out the Open squad is StripeyDave making his debut appearance at a Eurobowl. He was set to be the off-board support coach, but he’s been asked to step up and in doing so will earn his Full Colours in Warsaw. After a strong performance at the recent Home Nations he’ll be an important fourth coach that the team will no doubt rely on to get some points on the board.

Scotland Futures to be led by LordGarlack

Jock introduced the idea of Futures as a second team in the Europen to represent Scotland where coaches selected will gain their Half Colours. The idea behind this squad was to create a route for newer coaches to progress in their Blood Bowl and get exposure to the competitive environment of Europen whilst having a really great time.

In its second outing Team Scotland Futures is to be captained by an experienced old hand in six-time capped coach LordGarlack who made his first Eurobowl appearance back in 2012 in Denmark in the eighth edition. Alongside David will be GHislop, Mr_Frodo and first-time Europen appearance from Jairo.

No Scotland, No Party!

They do say no Scotland, no party, and the same will be true of this year’s Eurobowl in Warsaw as Scots coaches look to travel in numbers. Not only do we have the wider Scotland squad of sixteen, but we have the likes of the Tartan Trailblazers adding to the numbers of the Tartan Army. If you see a coach in a kilt feel free to stop a while and join us for a beer in Warsaw.
